Cocobolo Flooring in Beautiful Bellingham Home

Before any good installation is started, prep of existing home components is a must. This installation will be over radiant heat. The wood 2×4′s have had paint and dirt spilled over them.

Process: We must sand the 2×4′s to ensure a good glue bond. The 2×4′s are loose and will be re-screwed to the sub-floor. A stable 3/4″ plywood is installed over the “sleeper” 2×4′s. Generous glue usage and screw down of plywood to 2×4′s will give a long lasting base to the new wood Cocobolo wood floor.

After this is completed, then the flooring is racked out for further stabilization.

Generous Donor Donates Rosewood Hardwood Floor to Church for Install and Refinish Bellingham WA!

Two finish choices, water based and swedish finish were discussed. Using a water based finish, will tend to mute the natural wood tones making the floor more pale. Swedish finish will get as much and as deep a color out of the wood as possible.

We decided on using SYNTEKO Swedish finish. Reasoning, it would almost be a shame to mute the beautiful tones of rosewood flooring.

Dustless sanding was used to protect the seating, carpet and sound equipment from a dusty mess!

Library wood weave-in prior to refinish

Sometimes the floor is damaged beyond reasonable capable restoration and refinishing.

Such is the case in an area at the library. First the subfloor construction was matched and mimicked building up to the proper level. Then, staggering the removal of existing wood to prepare for new wood install. Remember, the new wood had been acclimating for 2 weeks for wood seasoning.

Generous heavy viscosity construction adhesive on the subfloor and yellow construction glue in the tongue and grooves insure longevity.
